Baked spicy green peas

On a rainy cold evening it will always be nice to have something to munch on with a hot cup of tea! After having roasted peas from my friend's house I thought of trying it out. But I wanted to have it without using too much oil. Then, I had some soaked peas already and decided to go ahead and bake it. I was pleased with the result, it came out good. Try it out!

Ingredients:
  • Green peas............................1 cup ( soaked overnight  and cooked in a cooker till one whistle)
  • Cumin powder.......................1 tsp
  • Paprika...................................1/2 tsp (you can use regular chilly powder if u want it more spicy)
  • Turmeric powder................... a pinch
  • Coreander powder..................a generous pinch
  • Rice powder...........................a pinch
  • Chaat masala..........................a pinch(optional)
  • Salt..........................................1/2 tsp
  • Oil...........................................1 - 2 tsp oil(any oil of your choice)
  • Water.......................................as required, just to cook the peas half way.
Method:
  • Cook the soaked peas with very less amount of water till done(for one whistle).
  • Drain any excess amount of water.
  • Place the peas in a mixing bowl. Add the oil and toss to coat.
  • Then toss it with the rest of the ingredients and mix well.
  • Allow it to rest for 10 mins and transfer the mixture into a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Spread it evenly.
  • Bake it in a pre heated oven at 350 F for 15- 20 mins.
  • Let it cool and enjoy your crispy, crunchy snack with a hot cup of tea :)
Notes:
  • If you need a quick fix snack for the tea, please go ahead and use the frozen peas, which will not require the step of soaking dry peas.
  • You can try variations of different spices as well.
  • Chickpea is a fabulous substitute for greenpeas with this recipe.
